Green Buildings
Cal State Fullerton is the proud home to a growing collection of green buildings, showcasing the latest advances in sustainable construction.
We follow best practices from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), which administers Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED), a program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and awards different levels of green-building certification. To date, two Cal State Fullerton buildings have secured LEED certification:
LEED Platinum - Student Housing Phase III – this was the first LEED Platinum student housing complex in California and the first Platinum-rated building in the CSU system
LEED Gold - Student Recreation Center
Five additional buildings meet LEED Silver equivalent standards:
- Children’s Center
- Eastside Parking Structure
- University Police Station
- Fullerton Arboretum Visitor’s Center
- Steven G. Mihaylo Hall
Going forward, our Sustainability Master Plan calls for all new buildings or major renovations to meet or exceed LEED Silver equivalent standards.
