Gastronome

Located in our student housing complex, the Gastronome dining hall is run by Aramark, a global food-service company committed to reducing environmental impacts while enriching and supporting the natural environment. The facility provides vegetarian and vegan options, and uses all reusable silverware, plating and cups. The company’s Green Thread platformOpens in new window emphasizes:

  • Local, seasonal and responsibly raised, grown and sourced products whenever possible
  • Minimizing waste by reducing, reusing and recycling
  • Efficient operations that conserve energy and water
  • Transportation management programs that reduce fuel use and emissions

Campus Dining

The non-profit Auxiliary Services Corporation (ASC) operates numerous campus eateries, including the Titan Student Union Food Court, Starbucks, Carl’s Jr., LH Express, Nutwood Café – Avant Market, Rec Express, food trucks, concessions, OC Choice Catering and campus vending machines.

ASC’s Campus Dining team has implemented a long list of green practices, including:

  • Minimizing food waste and donating excess food to Titan Bites, benefiting students in need, and to a local women’s shelter
  • Participating in The Real Food Challenge, with a commitment to purchase 20 percent “Real Food” by 2020
  • Choosing eco-friendly recyclable and compostable containers in most locations
  • Discouraging paper waste by offering Starbucks discounts for students who bring in reusable mugs and tumblers
  • Going “paperless” via mobile apps, e-blasts, digital signage and coupons and social media
  • Purchasing local, seasonal and responsibly raised, grown and sourced products whenever possible
  • Supporting the campus by reinvesting in Cal State Fullerton services, programs and facilities
  • Supporting students with on-campus jobs, the ASC textbook program, meal discounts and more
